Events in Indian culture have historically served as a means to infuse vitality and passion into the community. The significance and importance of these events lay in their ability to foster enthusiasm. However, observing the current urban landscape shows that cultural celebrations have been transformed into a shallow display of one’s societal status. What was once a sacred and pivotal tradition that united the community through shared culture and values is now losing its essence due to a lack of deep understanding and appreciation of the variety of various art forms across India.
In an effort to comprehend and catalyze change, a cultural renaissance became imperative. The studio embraced this as a mission, endeavouring to honour the richness and intricacy of India’s cultures and traditions, which bring people together for meaningful experiences. On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the studio’s artists united to craft a narrative that celebrates the marvels and wisdom of Lord Krishna through the most graceful forms of artistic expression: dance and music.
“Athithi Devo Bhava”
The purpose of the cultural Renaissance was to explore how an event within a particular space could breathe life into that space, making it vibrant and dynamic. Initially, the studio contemplated creating a poster, but after careful consideration, they decided to opt for a more practical invitation format. This invitation included a formal message from the studio and its artists, a concise narrative and a schedule of the upcoming events. Additionally, the invitation featured portraits by Bapu Gaaru, capturing the essence of Krishna’s stories within a single frame.
We aimed to grasp how the subtleties and occurrences of an event could breathe life into a particular space. This event underscored the significance of culture in uniting individuals within a single location. The interpretation of the event played a pivotal role in bringing people together, primarily for the appreciation of various art forms. Some attended to show support for their family members, while others came to simply partake in the event’s atmosphere. A substantial crowd gathered to relish the wholesome experience of the Janmashtami night.
